Cycling

From the age of two children can start to learn the art of cycling by using a balance bike, which is a bike with no pedals. Bikes with pedals can also be used with the pedals removed. Pedal free bikes are a solid foundation from which children can start to learn balance and control when on two wheels. Using a balance bike will allow children to develop the foundations to become competent cyclists. Stabilisers can be used although it may take your child longer to develop a sense of balance.

Traffic - free, open areas are best for using a balance bike, where your child can pick up speed and gain confidence in their balance. Children at this age should be supervised. It is strongly recommended that children should wear helmets whilst cycling. Sensible shoes and clothing are also recommended.
